With the release of their new banger, “Lit,” LOUDPVCK has reaffirmed the fact that they are one of the best and most consistently mind-melting acts in Trap right now. While this release follows a familiar structure and formula, it’s still a pleasantly aggressive reminder of LOUDPVCK’s ability to effortlessly churn out mosh pit gold.

GRiZ, the Sound Fix darling himself, tweeted some adulation for “Lit,” which he described as “Dropical House… Trop that drops.” Seeing as how this song has some of the wildest steel drum action I’ve heard to date, I might have to agree with him on that one. He then followed up by noting, “losing my shit right now,” to which I feel comfortable responding: us too, GRiZ… us too.

GRiZ’s friendly comments raise an interesting point though, and I feel as though “Lit” can be viewed as a satire of the Tropical sound that is so prevalent right now. While songs like OMI’s “Cheerleader” rule the airwaves, our boys in LOUDPVCK seem content to take the genre and flip it on its ass in what is maybe the only way they know how. That’s fine with me though, and I find comfort in the fact that I will be able to count on them to consistently produce straight-up Trap madness for years to come. The good news is that we won’t have to wait years, since LOUDPVCK will be dropping a new EP on Friday, so make sure to check it out!
