Stephen Colbert & Hugh Jackman to Host Global Citizens Festival

We’ve got some blazing hot, breaking news for you Sound-Fixers. Just minutes ago, New York City’s Global Citizens Festival announced Stephen Colbert and Hugh Jackman will co-host this years annual peace and music festival.

Last year, India’s newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a motivational speech on stage, and closed with the legendary Star Wars quote, “May the Force Be With You.” Imagine the legendary one-liners Colbert and Jackman will drop on the crowd of roughly 60,000 activists and music enthusiasts on September 26th.

Both celebrities have a fantastic resume for hosting high-profile events. Colbert masterfully hosts his nightly political comedy, while Jackman has hosted the Tonys four times, as well as the 81st Academy Awards.

Colbert recently told Mashable, “I am honored and thrilled to join Global Citizen in urging world leaders to commit to ending extreme poverty. Finally, all that U.N. traffic will have a purpose!”

To those not familiar with the festival, check out our coverage of the lineup release (Pearl Jam, Beyonce, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran). Tickets are free, and are drawn from a raffle pool once you complete certain social media tasks that push to end particular worldwide issues related to poverty.
