This Friday. John McCarten, aka Manic Focus, and Buku are taking over The Bowery Ballroom in New York City for a night of genre bending electronic music. The last time we saw Manic Focus was at this year’s Camp Bisco on the renowned main stage, and he brought some heavy hitting bass tastefully mixed with electro soul instrumentation. We’ve only heard good things about Buku thus far on this tour, so we’re excited to see this Pittsburgh native throw down a bass heavy set. If you’re into electronic music and live in the New York area, this won’t be a show you’ll want to miss. Tickets here, and our top three reasons we’re hitting this performance.
1. Manic’s released some fire tracks this year.
Just last month, Manic Focus put out a tasty new original we’re excited to hear live. “Slowing My Zone,” features a catchy riff and a wobbling synth we’re looking forward to getting down to. His remix of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason,” released four months ago, is another hot one to look out for.
2. Just a few weeks ago, we saw Manic Focus play a key role in an awesome live performance with Break Science.
About a month ago, we had a great time at the “Manic Science” concert at the Brooklyn Bowl. JmaC’s a versatile DJ that can spin and keep up with a live band, and we respect the technicality he brings to each performance.
3. Buku’s a new force to be reckoned with.
It’s always a fun experience to see a DJ for your first time, and we haven’t had the chance to catch this up and coming bass DJ. He’s played Dreamscape a few times and we’ve only listened to and heard good things. Check out one of his tracks below, and if you like what you hear and don’t have plans tomorrow, consider getting your tickets here.
