On Wednesday, tsimba and DeeZ released their collaborative Formless EP via Dream Vault records. The new record features 5 experimental bass tracks that are destined to tremor clubs and rattle ribs in coming months. For those unfamiliar, tsimba is the brainchild of Brooklyn-based Mark Evans, who evolved his sound as a future bass producer from his roots as a seasoned percussionist. DeeZ is a bass producer currently living in Boston who’s known to incorporate hip-hop elements into his compositions. My personal favorite track on the EP has to be “Low Life,” which features a resonating, ominous bass line that reminds me the ethos synthesized by New Zealand’s infamous tandem, Truth.
This new EP comes just days before tsimba’s anticipated performance at lespectacle 6, which kicks off tomorrow night at The Paper Box in Brooklyn. Expect tsimba to bring the heat for this sonic showcase going down at his home base, and for the young producer to weave tracks from the new EP into his set. Select pre-sale tickets for lespectacle 6 are still for sale at this link, with limited tickets reserved for walk-ups.
