Umphrey’s McGee and Aqueous to Take Over Central Park and the Highline Ballroom (7/7/17)

Umphrey's McGee

Tomorrow evening (7/7/17), jam titans Umphrey’s McGee triumphantly return to New York City for a throw-down in the park. Last time Umphrey’s played a City show was a fiery 2-night run at the Beacon Theater in the winter of 2016. To the dismay of Umphreaks, the band had a third night booked but the finale was canceled due to a monstrous blizzard.

The Central Park Summer Stage is one of NYC’s finest outdoor venues. Although the stage is nestled amidst the trees and grass of Central Park, attendees can enjoy a picturesque view of the Manhattan city skyline just above the venue. Friday night will also mark Umphrey’s third show at the Summer Stage, the first being in July of 2006 and the second in July of 2009. So with a hefty 8-year gap, I think it’s safe to say the band is overdue for a Summer Stage prog-jam extravaganza.

With special guests Aqueous opening for Umphrey’s, the night is sure to kick off on a funky note. The band has been on the rise lately playing shows regularly all across the Northeast, and with such a heavy touring schedule you can expect Aqueous to deliver some funky jams and refined musicianship. Following Umphrey’s Central Park show, Aqueous is hosting an after-party at the luxurious Highline Ballroom with Jake and Joel of Umphrey’s sitting in. Umphrey’s has a history of collaborating with supporting bands such as TAUK (Tauking McGee) and Spafford. The bar has been set high, so this after-party is sure to keep the party going deep into the night. (tickets)

Coming off a 3-night run at Red Rocks for the history books, UM is primed and ready to throw-down uptown. Just today (7/7/17) we spoke with Umphrey’s team who confirmed the show will 100% go on despite soggy conditions, and that set times are as follows:

Doors – 5pm
Aqueous  – 6pm
Umphrey’s McGee – Set 1 7pm
Umphrey’s McGee – Set 2 8:30pm

Tickets aren’t sold out yet so make sure to get yours before prices go up day of show. (tickets)bee0e9fd7c Umphrey's McGee and Aqueous to Take Over Central Park and the Highline Ballroom (7/7/17)
